Skin Type: Oily Skin
My outstandingly Oily Skin Type, so glad you're here! On a positive note first. You age so much more gracefully than the Dry Skin Types, because the oil production keeps your skin more “plump”. Now moving on… Have you felt like you’ve been oily since you were like 10 years old?!? Tired of looking shiny throughout the day and would LOVE to wear makeup that doesn’t slide off your face by 11 am lol? Sit down my friend and let us chat a bit. One of the main culprits I find with “your type” is you normally do nothing on your skin but overly wash it. You just want to feel “clean”, am I right?! Here is the problem with this concept. You're actually stripping the natural oils you have and not nourishing your skin after cleansing it so you're now causing dehydration on the skin which then tells your oil glands to produce more oil and there you have it, more oil! If you're a true oily skin type you can have great results as you gain understanding on how your skin functions and how to balance out things. You will hear me say that often “let’s balance the skin”.
Here are some DO and DO NOT’S for you.
-
DO wash your face with a gel cleanser twice a day (not a bar soap).
-
DO use a toner to balance the ph of your skin after cleansing it.
-
DO exfoliate 2-3 times weekly. You could use a mix of physical and liquid exfoliants with your skin type.
-
DO use a gel moisturizer twice a day.
-
DO use ingredients like Vitamin C, Vitamin E and lactic acid in your serums.
-
DO use masques that help with regulating oil production.
-
DO get Facials every 4-6 weeks.
-
DO NOT use a bar soap.
-
DO NOT over exfoliate your skin.
-
DO NOT forget to SMILE!
